My design philosophy is "make it personal." I think a person's home should reflect who they are, and what better way to do that than with books. Books add so much interest to an interior. They give character to a space and tell me what the inhabitant is passionate about.
I happen to collect vintage books with friends' names in the titles. When a particular friend comes to visit, I'll put the book with their name on it on my front entry table. It's little touches like that that make people feel special and appreciated...who doesn't love that?!
In this fast-paced world, it's important to slow down every now and then and give attention to little details that make a huge difference in our everyday lives. Books, flowers, music...these small touches can make all the difference. And at the end of a crazy day, I want to be able to come home and have my favorite reads accessible. On the shelf, resting on the side table, even stacked up by the bed.
There is such comfort in being surrounded by things that one treasures...and for me, books are at the top of the list! My goal is to someday have a library in my house filled with books!!!
Cheers,
Andrew Skipper
