Stories Books and Cafe

Stories Books and Cafe is Echo Park's prime purveyor of quality books, organic/fair trade coffee, espresso and delicious food.

Claudia Colodro and Liz Garo opened Stories in November 2008. Facing a crumbling economy and a chorus of amateur pop economists predicting the death of the bookstore, Stories opened its doors and proved the doubters wrong.  We were embraced by the neighborhood, and our continuing growth and success is a testament to the vitality of Echo Park. As part of the larger literary community of Los Angeles, we host a diverse calendar of events, from book release parties, comedy shows, live music, and community meetings. Our carefully curated selection has made us a destination for book lovers of Los Angeles and beyond.

The cafe offers baked goods from Home Boy Bakery and The Village Bakery.  We have the delectable Laura Ann's Jams. Our coffee beans are from Bicycle Coffee.

We sell new, used and rare books.

We buy and trade. Our buying hours are generally between 11 to 8. Its best to call ahead to make sure a buyer is working.

We do make house calls for larger collections. Write to Alex@storiesla.com for info.
