Unexpected Wedding
Moments
I love ridiculous wedding moments.
They make me laugh—and not the cute kind of laugh either. I'm talking snorting,
liquids may shoot out of my nose laughing. Seeing the horrendous bloopers that
happen on the most wonderful of days shouldn't cause me joy, but it does. It
applies a much needed moment of levity to an otherwise stressful situation,
cause let's face it, weddings are a big day but we tend to over-analyze when it
comes to the bonds of matrimony. But when you can look back on your day and
giggle because of something unexpected that happened? It makes it all
worth it. You guys ever watched America's Funniest Home Videos and witness a
wedding cake catch on fire, or the groom drop the bride in a pond?
Classic.
When I was plotting Rules of
Entanglement, I was trying to figure out the best way to not only resolve
the conflict between my main characters, but bring back much beloved former
characters as well. What better way than a wedding? The much
anticipated nuptials of Reid and Lucie from Seducing Cinderella was
the perfect set up I needed to make unexpected wedding moment magic happen.
After the cake is chosen, the venue secure, the invites posted and in the mail,
and the wedding party dressed and ready to go, you would think Reid and Lucie
could breathe a sigh of relief. After all, they had a crack team of experts
working on their big day in the guise of Jax and Vanessa.
Maybe somebody should have warned
them about the interestingly unexpected things that happen at weddings. Here's
hoping they videotaped it.
I have my own wedding blooper moment
involving a busty bride with a sweetheart neckline (me), an old Irish priest
who may or may not have been hitting the sacramental wine before the ceremony,
and a homily that included the phrase, “May we all be breast…” True story.
