Finding Lucas by Samantha Stroh Bailey

April 10, 2013 by Thoughts on This 'n That

In FINDING LUCAS, Samantha Stroh Bailey creates in Hanna probably one of the best, best friends in chick-lit in a long time!  Talk about being on call for your BFF and immediately stopping whatever you're doing for a pal in need ASAP 24/7/365.  We can all learn a thing or two from Miss Hanna and the really neat part? She's a woman character with a heart of gold!

32 year-old Jamie has been in a 5-year relationship with Derek which is on the verge of imploding!  She has watched him change from a care-free, fun-loving guy to a metro-sexual jerk who spends more time in front of the bathroom mirror using beauty products to face the day than most girls do.  Derek also has a lot of negative things to say about Jamie's family, friends and associate producer position at Chicago's television talk show, "Tell It Like It Is," and it's starting to beat Jamie down.

I'm not giving anything away by saying this, but let me tell you, I physically can't stand Derek.  From the very beginning when we meet him, he's like a rash.  He's annoying and just won't GO AWAY, nor will his mother, since we're putting it all out there.

When Jamie's boss gives her the opportunity to produce a segment on lost love, it's her chance!  She remembers a guy from back in high-school and decides to find him.  While Jamie searches for lost love, she finds herself moving forward and regaining her self-esteem.  We readers can't help but be taken on a journey as well, no matter where we are in our life experience there's a road to be traveled.

FINDING LUCAS is a bit of love, happiness some dinners, kissing, misunderstandings, then making up - you know - CHICK-LIT!

I really enjoyed FINDING LUCAS and I know you will, too.  Thank you, Samantha!

We'll be back next Wednesday with another review!
