The In Death series is one of my all time favorites...it is so named because all of the titles, with the one time exception of this latest one, the words "In Death"...in them. The first book in the series is titled "Naked in Death". There are a total of at least 36 novels in the series and that does not include an anthology or three...The latest is as good as the first. None of the books disappoint. Eve Dallas is a police Lieutenant with the NYPSD. Roarke is her husband. Together they team up to solve some pretty hairy cases...Murder cases, as Eve is a murder cop. The series is set in the late 2050s and runs through the early 2060s so far...just futuristic and realistic enough. Just a tad bit of romance and a lot of police work.
In New York to Dallas, Eve must return to a place of unspeakable horror in order to confront a monster for the second time in her career, this time she vows to put him away for good or die trying... Unfortunately, that is exactly what the monster has in mind!
Don't read this book until you have read all of the others. In order. Please. Robb does a beautiful job of building the cast of characters throughout each of the books and throughout the entire series, so that we are treated to the inner workings of their circle. We are allowed to experience the interactions between the characters as they grow together and we see the relationships and the personalities come into being...If you don't read them all, and read them in order, you will be cheating yourself out of an lovely, chilling, and just downright enjoyable literary experience. I have NEVER been disappointed by ANY book in this series and this one, Dallas to New York, is no exception. Don't let the title fool you, this is an "In Death" book.
Five stars for yet another masterpiece from JD Robb aka Nora Roberts.
